Let me clear something up.
We don’t worship her. We venerate her as the Mother of God. We pray for her intercession to Jesus because He will not refuse a request made of him by his Mother. We believe she was born and died without sin. But we do not worship her.
Thank you and…
Firstly read this post that I just posted.
As far as the dogma of Mary being born without original sin you have misinterpreted the dogma. We (as Catholic’s) believe that Mary had the very God, the Lord most high, in her womb. I mean, just think about that for a second. It kinda freaks me out. I noted in the post above reasons why we believe her to be pure, blessed, and “highly favored”, but admittedly none of this goes into the details of why Mary was born without original sin.
We as Christians all believe that we’re born with original sin, the original sin that marks us unworthy to be in the Garden of Eden and marks us as sinful creatures. We also believe that this sin is cleansed by baptism and redemption from Christ. So Mary, in theory, would have had to been born into sin, with sin, and be stuck in sin until she was in her late 40s at the earliest. The problem with this, is how can we reasonably believe that God dwelled in her very womb if she truly was sinful? It’s a bit of a paradox, to be honest. But, what we don’t realize is that Mary is a gift from God. Anne had Mary at a very old age, and she (Ann) promised that if she had a child she would give that child back to God- so when Mary was between the ages of 7 and 10 she was given to the temple. From Mary’s very conception she was bound to be the woman that held Christ the King. Because of this fact, we (as Catholic’s) recognize that she must have been born without original sin- it’s the only thing that could make her “highly favored” and genuinely prepared to hold God in her womb. She was born unmarked by the sin of Adam and Eve so that she could be a pure vessel and tabernacle of the Lord.
But you cant get a spiritual being from a human. It confuses me how you could think she could be without sin when the trinity is the only holy being. God places Jesus into her womb, I know there is the whole scientific “eggs in the womb since birth” thing, but God is above that. If Mary was sinless from birth why couldn’t she have died for our sins?
I am co completely ignorant to Catholic Religion, but im trying my best, and im only “arguing” to figure out what you really think.
Just to clarify, opinions are opinions.
Well, see, you’re wrong there. The Holy Trinity is not the only Holy being. At least, not by my definition. All Saints are holy, all angels are holy, all prophets are holy. So as far as that goes- that’s a dispute on a whole ‘nother level of theology and understanding of Scripture.
Being sinless has nothing to do with Jesus’ dying for us. It instead plays a roll in the entire story, but again, this is a matter of different theology and scripture.
I’m curious how 1 Samuel 2:2 fits.
